More Plantings On the Street

I bought some plants at Lowes yesterday and then picked up some bulbs and seeds at Home Depot last night.

This evening I planted 3 'Full Tide' Bearded Iris rhizomes in a line along the guy wires, 7 Portulacas along the east front edge and the other 5 flowing from behind the Stella d'Oros to underneath the 4 o'clock, 5 white Verbena among the red velvet snapdragons, 1 purple Verbena at the far west corner to fill in the space where the Pansies and Johnny Jump-Ups aren't doing so well and a purple blush Osteospermum on the immediate south side of the stop sign pole.

I also got 35 Liatris spicata corms and 2 packages of Gazania seeds at Home Depot. I'm thinking of putting the liatris in at the end of the sidewalk in small beds on either side. (Over half of the Liriope died this last summer so I'm taking the rest out and letting the grass reclaim the area.) I'll start the Gazania seeds in flats to transplant as soon as possible as most of the sets I planted last fall are doing really well, with one of them blooming up a storm.
