Dreary Monday

Yesterday evening Ernest found some fresh potting soil spilled on the patio just outside the sliding door. Looking around the yard he found my 'Fireball' hardy hibiscus laying in the yard a few feet from its now chewed up pot. I brought in inside, repotted it and put it under the lights on the back porch.It looks no worse for the wear today.

Today I decided to plant the 3 large pots of 'Silky Gold' butterfly weed in the backyard on the south side of the garage. Since there's a sprinkler head where I wanted them Ernest dug the hole for me. In the process he moved the grass from the new hole over to the dead area left by the 5th wheel. (2 birds, one stone.) The butterfly weeds look really good in their new home. Wish I had thought to plant them there a year or so ago...

The largest of the bat faced cuphea is showing quite a bit of new growth so I brought it out from the hoophouse today and put it in the shade of the 'Maui' ixora and the fringe flower. While in the area I added several inches of new soil to the ixora as the top of the roots were showing. I also added soil to 3 brugs (Sun Kissed, Snow Cone, no name). Sun Kissed somehow only had 1/2 a container of soil and showed it by wilting down every other day.

'Monster White' it really putting on the blooms! It has dropped the skirt on 3 and has at least 6 more coming on. Ernest is so excited. I just need to get into the habit of fertilizing it everytime it's watered.

I deadheaded 2 more pods off the mouse ear coreopsis and sprinkled the seeds in the tray with the bulbs I can't remember the name of. :-}

The 2 lilies that are in the process of blooming were laying on the ground so I cut up a stocking and tied them to a stake.

Not sure what varieties they are, but I suspect 'Coral Sunset'.
